Refresh L, 10 liter

Refresh L is a specially formulated nutritional supplement to combat heat stress. It is the best response to high temperatures. During heat stress, metabolic acidosis (=decreased blood pH) occurs, negatively affecting both feed intake and growth rate.

Refresh L prevents this blood acidosis and compensates the lowered blood pH through a combination of different buffers and specific nutritional salts. Refresh L is recommended in all high-temperature situations in which the animals breathe pumping, hyperventilate or breathe with an open mouth.

Background information:

At stall temperatures of +- 30 °C, a chicken can release its body heat to the environment by increasing its body surface area (e.g.: open wings) and by increased blood flow to the skin and comb. In heat stress, above 30°C, the breathing frequency increases and the chicken breathes with its beak open. However, the pumping breathing causes extra carbon dioxide to be exhaled, lowering the pH or acidity in the blood (ion imbalance). As a result of this, performance decreases, eventually resulting in death.
